Unique items in RR Auction’s latest Fine Autographs and Artifacts lot

RR Auction is known for constantly having some of the most amazing and breathtaking items, especially when it comes to Fine Autographs and Artifacts. The great news for worldwide collectors is that this month they have quite an exquisite Autographs and Artifacts auction with fantastic items that are up for grabs. The auction started earlier this month and will conclude on September 13 so there is plenty of time to browse the online catalogue and check out the available collectibles.

One of these rare and remarkable items is a letter written and signed by none other than George Washington. The letter is dated on December 26, 1777, during the Revolutionary War and it measures 7.75 X 10.25 inches. Although it is addressed to Lt. Col. Wm. Lee Davidson, Carolina, Lt. Col. Heath—Virginia, Major Hull—N. England, the letter turned out to be, in fact intended for William Alexander, Lord Stirling. The letter which has a great historical significance reads: The light Horseman you sent up yesterday was by some means overlooked tho' your favor answered by another hand. The Deserters you mention in your last from Colo. Proctor's Corps I have the pleasure to inform were taken by Captain Tallmadge of the Light Dragoons, in the neighborhood of German Town, he has punished them properly. The sending your artillery back I think a very proper step. Should the enemy advance anywhere to our right I shall expect the very earliest intelligence from you, indeed if they move at all. When do you think we can make an attempt with a prospect of success let me have your sentiments on the matter, that if any thing can be done the necessary orders may be given." The document is in very good condition and it was estimated at over $35,000.

Another very valuable item featured in this auction is yet another letter signed by Paul Gauguin. The 4.5 X 7 inches letter is in French and not dated. It is basically a thank you letter sent to one of Gauguin’s supporters, Emile Schuffenecker. However, Shuffenecker was not only one of Gauguin’s supporters, but one of his close friends as well as one of Van Gogh’s earliest collectors. His ties with the world of art and painting were quite strong, as it is also proven by the letter that Gauguin sent him. The letter was estimated at over $30,000 but it is expected to be sold for a lot more.

Additional details on these items and the other collectibles available in this Fine Autographs and Artifacts Auction can be found on RR Auction’s website and in their online catalogue. Collectors should also keep an eye on their social media, as there are constant updates regarding featured items and future events.

Tupac’s Hummer Sells for $206K on its Second Auction

This is the second time Tupac Shakur’s Hummer has gone to auction, but hopefully this time the winning bidder actually pays.
Last year, Shakur’s old Hummer crossed the auction block selling for $337,144, but the winning bidder defaulted on payment. Since RR Auction was unable to collect on the vehicle, it crossed the auction block again and this time, it sold for $206,531. That’s quite a bit more than the estimate of around $100,000 that the auction house expected.
The Hummer H1 was the last vehicle Shakur would purchase in his lifetime on August 16, 1996, a little less than a month before his death. The fully loaded model was customized by the late rapper with modifications like off-road lights, a 360-degree spotlight, grille guard, diamond-plate bumpers, off-road wheels and tires, and more. It’s powered by a 6.5-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine and has just 10,101 miles on the odometer.
According to Boston-based RR Auction, the winning bid came from a businessman in Baltimore who wishes to remain anonymous.
“It’s an incredible piece of hip-hop history, and we are thrilled to have played a role in helping to find its new home,” said Bobby Livingston, executive vice president at RR Auction. “Accompanied by incredible provenance and purchased a month before his death, the vehicle will no doubt only continue to go up in value.”

Tupac Shakur’s Hummer H1 up for auction

A 1996 Hummer H1 owned by rapper and actor Tupac Shakur is to be auctioned off later this month.

The black Hummer sold in 2016 for $337,144, but the car is to be auctioned off again on August 17 after the winning bidder never paid for the vehicle. This time it is expected to sell for around $100,000.

The H1 was known for its utilitarianism and was an adapted version of a car designed specifically for military uses – the M998 Humvee.

Yet despite this, Skakur's car was still heavily modified, and featured a range of upgrades including diamond-plate bumpers, a 360-degree spotlight, a 12,000-pound winch, a tyre inflation system and a 12-disc Clarion sound system.

The late rapper purchased the Hummer just one month before he was shot, and it was the last vehicle he ever bought. The Hummer has covered just 10,101 miles and features a licence plate reading "YANKPAK', honouring Shakur and late rapper Yaki 'Prince' Kadafi. It is described by the auction house as in "fine" condition.

The Hummer is being sold by Boston-based RR Auction in a special Pop Culture auction that includes other special lots such as signatures from the Beatles, original hand-written scripts from Steve McQueen and a famous green umbrella used by Britney Spears in 2007 at the time of her infamous meltdown.
