Science and Technology Auction features incredible items



RR Auction does not seize to amaze collectors all over the world as it has put together an incredible lot of science and technology related items that will surely catch the eye of anyone passionate about these fields. The Science and Technology Auction started on May 19 and will conclude on June 14. Anyone interested in the items is more than welcome to check out the online catalogue and place a bid.
Among the remarkable items available in this auction, there is a Project Apollo and Skylab series Maurer data acquisition camera that was used to obtain sequential photographic data during manned flights of both Skylab and Apollo project. The camera was estimated at over $30,000 and it has an ID plate on the front that reads: “Camera, 16MM Sequence, Model 308B, 28V DC, Part No. SEB 33100100-211, Serial No. 1090, J. A. Maurer, Inc., N. Y., U. S.”

One other unique item featured in this lot is a remarkable 1721 document from Isaac Newton as the Master of the Royal Mint. The document is basically a pay order issued to a John Grigsby, the accountant general of the South Sea Company and it reads: "Pray pay to Dr. Francis Fauquier the four per cent Dividend due at Midsummer last upon sixteen thousand two hundred & seventy two pounds four shillings & nine pence south sea stock in my name & his Receipt shall be your sufficient discharge." The document was estimated at $25,000, but it is expected to be sold for a lot more.

Last but not least, the Science and Technology Auction also includes Michael Collins’ Apollo 11 flown Robbins medal. The item, which has the serial number “31” is encapsulated in a plastic holder that certifies it comes from Michael Collins’ collection. It measures approximately 1.25 inches in diameter, it has the Apollo 11 mission insignia on the front and the names of the astronauts that took part in the mission on the back. On top of that, the medal is also accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Michael Collins. This item was also estimated at over $30,000.
